Black and White

When I walk in the early mornings, the sun casts these long shadows, and it coats everything with these coppery chartreuse colors. The chartreuse comes with our green NW weather. I will stop sometimes and just look through the trees and foliage. I see and feel the different layers of branches, leaves, trees and bushes between me and those furthest away. They all merge together in my two dimensional photo lens. I'm trying to capture what I'm seeing with my eyes in a flat photograph.

Before our trip to Cebu in Nov 2021, we lived across the road from this trail. We like our new apt, and my morning walks have become more of an exercise routine, which is good, but I didn't get as much walking yesterday morning. It was wonderful...a crisp, cool, sunny morning with the colors of low angle sunlight. Regretting that I left my good camera at home, I pulled out my cell phone. In the photo with the pathway in the bottom right corner, there's a white color building peeking through the foliage. That's a new building going up in the lot between our old apt and the roadway.

Cold Winter early mornings with sunshine and blue skies used to be my favorite photo walk weather days. With my body liking warmer weather nowadays, Spring is now my favorite. I did a loop walk yesterday, going from Blyth Park over the Sammamish River and through the tunnel to the old Wayne Golf course Park, back over the Sammamish on the 96th Ave bridge and through the meadow south of Blyth Park... 

This seemingly unending Winter has come to an end, and maybe I'll get out there again and do some photo walks. It was like I was hibernating. I have been doing some woodcarving though. The half moon pieces, around 12" in length, were left over from a "commission" I got from our granddaughters: small relief carvings of animal skeletons - a pig for Addie, and a gorilla for Claire (no photos). The other small carvings were experiments with different woods.
