Waterfront walk #3: I turned my camera towards the downtown buildings fronting the waterfront a few times. The last few were after we turned East and walked up towards 4th and 5th Avenues.

There's a good article in this morning's Times about the Indigenous Coast Salish people from this area. I took some photos of totem poles during our walk yesterday. The first totem pole is in the park at the North end of the Pike Place Market, and the second one is further South in the Pioneer Square area.  "The totem pole, also sometimes referred to as a monumental pole, is a unique, hand-carved monument created by Indigenous peoples of the Northwest Coast of North America to variously portray family legends and lineage, spirituality, sacred or mythological beings, and culturally important animals, people or events."

We went out for our first sight-seeing adventure in over a year and a half yesterday. We walked along the waterfront, which is in the early stages of post Viaduct makeover. Super fun day! The door has been opened, and Mr Covid is being pushed out. We didn't ride the Great Wheel this time, but we did the "Wings Over Washington". I think we'll go on a ferry ride next time. "The largest ferries are over 400 feet long and can accommodate up to 200 cars and 2,500 passengers."

 

Some mornings, when my body tells me "you need to walk!", I walk West along the 4-lane Bothell Way NE. It's noisier than just going straight to the trail over our pedestrian bridge, but it makes me walk faster. No interruptions to take photos. It's boring along there anyway, and I reward myself when I cut back over to the Sammamish Trail by the Wayne Park. My walk over the bridge is at the end of my walk instead of the beginning.

The first photo is a leopard like wood sculpture here in this building. I took this shot around xmas time, when I was delivering the newspapers. The second photo is of a real leopard in 2018 at the Safari Park in Cebu. "You lookin' at me?"

There's this little mini park within a Park where I often walk. I took the snow covered tree shot last January. There was something new the other day. Someone put up a swing on the tree, and even though the flowers are plastic, I like it!

I went upstairs yesterday morning to get a picture of the clouds off to our West, and I took photos of the planter gardens. This cabbage like thing caught my eye, and I ended up with these images while I was editing.
