Other walkers sometimes ask me "taking pictures of birds?" "Not really." I get confused looks if I try to explain the colors and lines of branches in the morning sunlight, etc...

My wish for a sunny winter day was answered. I got over to the Sammamish River this morning. The lighting with a low angle of the sun can change minute to minute, and I got a bunch of shots. 10Jan2023 walk...

Some of my favorite times for photo walks are on sunny, blue sky winter mornings, as long as I'm bundled up for the cold. I'm still waiting for one of those days. I do love the textures and dark lines of these leafless trees though.

I saw the sun come out yesterday, and since I had to make a run to the Post Office, I thought I could go get some river shots with some sunshine. Not my luck. 20 minutes later the clouds had returned, but I had a nice walk anyway.

Thank you for the nice feedback. This was the first tray carving I did (Acacia/Monkeypod, 9 3/4"), from last May when we were in Cebu. It was after eye issues made me cut back on my photo editing. One positive thing was that I rediscovered how much I love wood...

Yes, I am curious and interested in the Idaho murder suspect, but this headline in my news app gave me pause: "Idaho murder suspect goes to the bathroom during Illinois pitstop while being transported". It was posted by the Daily Mail, a UK gossip publication sort of like the old Police Gazettes my parents used to read when I was a kid. Bottom line, the guy needed to pee, and there wasn't a toilet on their airplane?

One of my favorite books/plays is Herb Garner's "A Thousand Clowns". Although it's a very different story line from yesterday's Republican show, the words "a thousand clowns..." kept popping up in my head. The following just appeared in my news feed: "Hannity Declares, ‘House Republicans Now Are on the Verge of Becoming a Total Clown Show’ After Doomed Speaker Votes".

I went on one of my first photo walks in over 4 or 5 months this morning, along the Sammamish River. It was a dreary, gray, NW morning, but it felt good, and I took a bunch of photos. This shot is a view from the first bridge leading up to the Burke-Gilman Trail cut off.

Old photos: One of my favorite walks when we lived in Tukwila was a park just North of the SeaTac Airport. I loved aiming my camera up through the trees when planes were coming in for landings. This one was from 2015. The street lamp shot was from 2014, on some stairs leading down to the waterfront from downtown Seattle.

I remember an old guy who walked every day through our neighborhood when we lived in Tukwila. I remember watching Philip walk and thinking he's a retired person. A few years later I noticed he was walking a little slower, and he was using a cane. Towards the end, was still walking every day, but he was using a walker. I started my Walking in January 2006, after I retired. This photo is from an early morning walk in Georgetown on Saturday, December 26, 2015, the day after xmas...
