I got up at 3am this morning so I could watch the Walk for Mary Procession at 4. I missed the candlelight Walk for Jesus last week. My plan was to find a short policewoman/security person to stand behind so I could get some good photos, and I also had to consider umbrellas popping up like mushrooms with the lightest sprinkle. This is very unlike Seattleites who only open their umbrellas if it actually Rains. We were out there in the dark with thousands of people in the middle of the largest roadway in Cebu, and after the main contingent passed by, all of the bystanders surged into the road, me included, to walk with them. Before I walked into the center of the Fuente Osmena Circle park the other evening, I walked around the park perimeter...

Sinulog Festival parades #2: we loved the colors and pageantry, but the participants worked hard because of the many pauses and a long day. Still, there were many smiles and good cheer. Even some of the Santo Nino statues of the infant Jesus looked tired...

We've gone to two of this year's Sinulog parades so far: wonderful costumes, amazing colors, drums, bugles, and two young men really getting into character :)

National Museum of the Philippines #2 - I liked the lighting and window reflections througout the exhibits. The first photo shows one of the many artifacts from the last several centuries. These were found in a sunken Spanish galleon? I got sidetracked by my own reflections at one point.

mountain countryside photos #2 - before I watched clouds move through the valleys, I wandered through the gardens of AO Park and took some photos of the many plants...

We visited the new National Museum of the Philippines here in Cebu yesterday. There are collections of Filipino fine arts, anthropology, and archaeology. They also had displays of the Philippines botany, zoology, and geology roots. The museum's lighting and display layouts caught my interest right away, especially the mostly natural window lighting in many of the rooms. My favorites were some hanging painted screens in one of the large rooms.
