:) my MapMyWalk app says I walked 16.95 miles today. I forgot to turn it off after I returned to my car. Up until our departure for Cebu in Nov, we lived right across the street from the Landing Park where that foot bridge is located. I wanted to get on the trail right away instead of using 15-20 minutes walking from out new apt.

It feels So good to be getting up earlier, between 4:30 and 5 today, drinking some coffee, doing my computer routine , and heading out to walk. I was on the trail by 7am. Joy... I still haven't pulled out my Canon, and these shots were taken with the Samsung phone I bought in Cebu. Not bad, but not an SLR...

My 3 brothers and I had planned a bicycle ride meet-up for tomorrow morning, but we had to cancel it. We will re-schedule later, but we had fun texting back and forth when we were coordinating our plans. JR decided to refer to me as "Uncle Roy" (Mom had 5 brothers, and 3? sisters). Our Uncles theme ended up as follows:

Me - Uncle Roy: the oldest brother, who lived in Alaska, and I Never saw him without a cigar in his mouth, all through my childhood and into my early adult years.

Pat - Uncle Homer: he was a Square-dance "Caller", and all of our Johnson family reunions had full scale square dances, where the kids joined in with the adults. Fun!

JR (John) - Uncle Elmer: he was an Air Force pilot who flew in the Berlin Airlift of 1948-1949. He lived/retired in San Antonio, Texas.

Mike - Uncle Bill: Uncle Bill was always my favorite, but I'm Uncle Roy because I'm the oldest. Sigh...

Uncle Larry didn't make the cut, but maybe Jimmy would have been Uncle Larry. Uncle Larry was a Contractor in Las Vegas who traded in his Cadillac every year for a brand new Cadillac. He showed up one morning when I was in Vietnam. I was sleeping on my cot because I had been on all night Guard Duty, and I had the morning off. Uncle Larry was on there on a 1-year government contract where he worked for really good money, with no taxes. I didn't know he was in Vietnam.

John just sent me this photo, with the text "cr giving me a ride on his bike" Ha Ha. That's actually Uncle Roy with John sitting behind him. But it was my motorbike. ps - notice the cigar in Uncle Roy's mouth?

Joy # 82... I finally got out on the trail with my bike today, a beautiful NW morning. I was enjoying the "ride" a lot, but I stopped a few times to shoot photos with my cell phone. My good ol' Schwinn was the star. The last photo was when I cut through downtown, and the three life size portraits are of real Bothell individuals. I posted a FB Memory shot of these characters here recently.

I have a bunch of photos from our last two weeks in Cebu that I haven't edited yet. These are from the new airport terminal in Cebu (CEB) on the day we left, the 2nd of June. I Love!! the wood, the overall architecture and flow as you walk through the Departures Terminal. 

Even with this NW cloudy, cool weather, it feels really good to be walking here again. 7 months ago we were living right across the street from the Sammamish River Park, near the "o" in Bothell map #1 (2.45 miles, 16JunWalk). We now live by the big red dot in both maps, adding 10-15? minutes to my walk before I reach the river. Map #2 was yesterday morning (17Jun). When I'm not on a Photo walk, I like to keep walking w/o stopping, and I found a fun route, zig-zagging down through our small downtown area. I walked over the 102nd Ave NE bridge going over the purple color Bothell Way NE. The last map looks like it goes under 522, but it doesn't. On the other side I walked back along the river trail to the new pedestrian bridge in the first photo. Only 3 short crosswalk light interruptions. Good walk(s)...

My walk from the day before yesterday: 1.74 miles and 33 minutes, along Bothell Wy NE, from our apt up to the Safeway store and back. This map, from my phone's MapMyWalk app, says I started at the "Church of the Living God". Our apt complex has another name, and it's not a church :/ :)

Joy...again. Our granddaughters number 1, and today with my first Sammamish River Trail walk and bike ride in 7 months. My "Map my Walk" app tells me I walked and rode a total of 3.62 miles in 56 minutes. The walk from our new apt a little bit north of the downtown area of Bothell to the storage locker we rented took the bulk of that time. I crossed the street in front of the Storage place and rode my trusty Schwinn bike back along the river. It felt like I was flying. I repeat - Joy... I took my first photos since we returned, only two quick ones with my cell phone because I was timing my walk/ride.

"La Vie in the Sky" #2

It was fun walking around the building while we were waiting to be seated. I'm thinking it was someone's private residence in the past, and I liked all of the stairways and small rooms with interesting decor... eclectic, like I posted yesterday, and sort of kitschy.

"La Vie in the Sky" was one of our last excursions in Cebu before we left for home. It's a "French" themed restaurant that serves a good Italian pasta. This is where I took the most recent night lights shot of Cebu I posted the other day. The last photo here was when my nephew Robert and I were on the roof terrace and called down to our family members who were outside waiting to be seated for dinner. I have more "decor" photos I will post later...very eclectic.

What do you do when you see some tall grass on an early summer day? You run over and sit in it. "Look at me, I want to take your picture."

My first photo post since returning home: our view several nights before departing Cebu Philippines, from the "La Vie in the Sky" restaurant near the "Tops" lookout.

I haven't read the newspaper in 7 months, and I haven't watched the TV news, etc. I'm back in the States, the morning of day 3, and I'm doing my computer routine right now, the one I started in Cebu. I hooked up our new DIY T-Mobile internet last night, and I like it! My routine is to watch the tickertape kind of news thing with the MS Edge browser, 5 minutes of often heart breaking, scary and depressing information. And just like TV News programs, the "feel good" story at the end :) Next, I switch to my Chrome and/or Opera browsers to peruse my emails before going to FB and online photography stuff. With FB, by the way, I'm continuing to focus on arts and crafts, and photography. That change, backing off from reading so much "news", has eliminated a lot of the negative things for me about FB.
