I walked through our downtown en route to the river yesterday. I wanted to take a few photos of the memorial for our fallen cop...

I took a bunch of these photos at Evans Creek the other day. Over the years, I've always preferred my early morning walks. The low angle of an early morning sun can give off a bronze, gold kind of color, and wonderful shadows. Since I gained a walking mate last month, our walks have moved to mid-day, and the sun is directly above us. It's been a pleasant surprise how nice the colors and shadows are when we walk in heavily forested areas. Another factor might be that I was shooting these with my Canon SLR.

These shots were from a short stretch between UW Bothell and the Sammamish River Trail yesterday. Walking year round, I also like the black, silhouetted, tree branches of Winter, but these warm, Summer colors are wonderful.

We walked through the Evans Creek Preserve near Redmond yesterday, another forested area to explore and not far from home. Like it happens so often, I started pointing my camera upwards...

We walked through the Heritage Park area West of here the past two mornings. It's just off the Burke-Gilman Trail by 96th Ave NE, and it has several foot bridges going back and forth over the Samammish River. Nice for walking. We discovered an "other side of the track thing" going on with the nice houses and boats moored on private docks. A bit of a contrast to the trailer courts and boats we walk by going up towards Woodinville. We still think they're cool...

  

Looking up... into the patterns, colors and textures of the tree canopy...

The lighting on our early evening walk yesterday was wonderful. I was just holding my phone out in my right hand, clicking away as we were walking along. It makes me want to try that with my other cameras. Just sort of point the camera in whatever direction and click the shutter. After so many years of getting up at 3 and 4am, we are slowly adjusting our daily routines, and I think dusk photo walks will be challenging my preferred early morning walks.
