from a walk I took on this date in 2017...

I took my new ORCA card for a spin yesterday. It only took around 15 minutes to ride from the Bothell Park'nRide to Bellevue (cost - 1 buck? I have to check online. I know us "old folks" can get All-Day passes for $2). I then meandered over to Bellevue Square, where I got a Decaf Americano. Yep, Decaffeinated. Just like I'm weaning myself from Driving, I'm also cutting back on my caffeine. Getting old sort of sucks :)

I love it! I cannot pass up a good building reflection. I took my first bus ride in a long time yesterday, a trip to downtown Seattle to get my Senior's "Orca" card. All-day passes for $2 or something! I was early, so I got off at the North end, on the same cross street as the Pike Place Market, and I walked South to the Pioneer Sq area and shot some photos on the way... ps - you can't beat the early morning angle of the sun, the colors, the shadows, etc

Just like when I walked in Tukwila, I often walk the same routes over and over. They're different every time. The lighting, the colors, the weather...everything. These were taken a few days ago, and I walked in the afternoon. It's dryer in the Summer, warmer, and the river is less blue. Being overcast, the sky was sort of bleached out. I like my Blue sky shots better.

I posted this photo 2 years ago on this date. The bare tree branches tell me that it was a crisp, sunny, Winter morning. It was near our house in Tukwila, where both a small bridge and the Light Rail cross over the Green River. I miss the many walking places in the south end, but I'm a Bothellite now. Our walking/bike riding options up here have made the transition easy...

I rode my bike today. I was able to ride the equivalent of 3 of my regular Walks in one 30 minute Bike ride, and it felt so Good! A Trifecta of Covid malaise, Winter, and procrastination kept me from riding for too long. Just words today. No photos. I'll dust off my GoPro, and do a GoPro bike ride soon.
To my Photography Friends on FB, if you read this, how do you take photos of/with people in them? I've always wanted to take "people" photos, but for different reasons, I'm uncomfortable and shy. The attached photo is one reason. I was intrigued by the lines and shadows of the stairs when I shot this photo. I didn't notice the guy on the upper stairwell glaring at me until I was sitting down and editing my photos later. Any comments, suggestions, etc are welcome. I'm including the Japanese translation in part because we hope to travel there next year. Thank you.

Our little museum has been closed due to Covid since last year. They've been changing the exhibits periodically, and displaying them by highlighting items near the windows. This is a win-win for me because I also like the glass windows and reflections. And the "layers" of images from close-up to the middle of the rooms, and out through the windows on the other side...

S Lake Union Walk post #2: we spent some time walking around the Amazon Spheres area. I just checked, and they have "Public Opening Hours: "10am-6pm the first and third Saturday of each month" - adding that to out list of Staycation excursions. I remember many years ago, on one of my early morning downtown walks, a guy with a "CCP" sweatshirt asked me to take a photo of him with these in the background. "Communist Party of China 中国共产党 Zhōngguó Gòngchǎndǎng"...
