Suicide Knobs - from Wikipedia: "The device is often called a 'suicide knob' because of being notoriously useless for controlling the wheel during an emergency." I loved my suicide knobs. My favorites were ones like the tangerine colored one in the last photo (center bottom third). You press the small button sticking out and the knob snaps back into alignment with the steering wheel - less likely to catch your sleeve and cause an accident.

My last downtown buildings post was from a walk in Bellevue WA, across Lake Washington from Seattle. These are a mix of photos from a downtown Seattle walk.

One of my favorite things about taking walk photos is the editing after I load then onto my PC. Two things happen: 1 - get to go on the walk again, and 2 - I get to play with the images. I often discover/See things that I missed when I clicked the shutter during my walk. Sometimes the image will beg me to play with the editing...eg b&w, zooming in and getting interesting close-ups, clicking on the "Artistic Effects-Colored Edges" option in my Paintshop Pro software, etc. Of course, my favorite is when the framing was spot on when I pushed the shutter, and it was a good choice anyway with the lighting, colors and subject matter. That said, I'm going into my computer's photo folders, and I'm going through them in search of photos to edit. Joy... Today's folder is from 1Jun, around 5 weeks ago, and I was between bus rides in Bellevue,WA. These were taken with my iPhone, and I was looking at building reflections on other buildings...

I just returned from a walk with my brother Mike: 1 1/2 miles, and he just had major hip surgery 5 weeks ago?! We rendezvoused at Bothell's Landing Park bridge before our walk, and then we had breakfast at Alexa's on Main St. The shadow self portrait was an itchy shutter finger push, and the river views are from both sides of the bridge. Good walk, good visit and good food...

I rode my trusty Schwinn for the first time in a year yesterday. As always, I was amazed at how I can cover the distance of 3 or 4 of my walks in just one ride. I have to remember to use my MapMyWalk app next time, so I can download a map, see how many miles I travelled, etc. Those of you who have followed my blog or FB might remember a few of these photo shots. I stopped several times for mini breaks. They were taken with my iPhone, and they're ok, but cell phones are not cameras! Then again, I've only used my GoPro for Island Hopping and snorkeling in the Philippines. Duh... My route took me down from our apartment to the Landing Park on the Sammamish River where I turned SW towards Woodinville and rode along the river. At the turn where I could go on towards Woodinville, I cut W under the pedestrian bridge and headed towards the Bothell campus of UW. There's a short walkway and circular rest area just off the campus if you walk down from the University buildings and between the sports fields. I found my shadow there.

The annual 4th of July Bothell car show was yesterday - technically the "Northshore Veterans Memorial Car Show". It's my favorite car show. It's close to home, and there are fewer folks because of the parade and Independence Day festivities happening nearby. I get more photos of wonderful cars without having to weave in, around and between other people to get some good shots. Only one photo in today's post: a self portrait, actually two if you look close, on a beautiful 1949 DODGE Special Deluxe.

Time flies as they say...these youngsters are now in middle school, high school and college?
