7Dec2022 - crlazlo meanderings 2 is now 2.1 - I will continue to use it as a preview/workspace for my FB posts, but I will also start organizing the many photos from my retirement years, and also start a journal/memories thing. That's the plan anyway.

This is one of my favorite shots from last year's Greenwood Car Show. She was taking in the show with her family, maybe after attending a church service or something...

Theses images (Sesshu 1420 – 1506) popped up in my FB Memories this morning (Excellent Art Japan & Asia page on FB). I have to do some research. When I worked at an English Language School in Ube City Japan, my boss took us to a temple or garden that was associated with Sesshu? He was inspired by Chinese landscapes, but "Sesshū's work holds a distinctively Japanese style". I could be wrong considering my memory nowadays, and it was 43 years ago! - 1981. I remember being surprised and impressed because Sesshu (1420 – 1506) was one of my favorite Japanese ink landscape painters. I just checked on Wikipedia, and I read "Sesshū worked under Shūbun for 20 years before leaving Kyoto for a small provincial zen temple in western Japan."

public Art - I love it! More metalwork art on the pedestrian walkway that goes over the train tracks between Seattle's Chinatown and the King St Station...

Wednesday, June 26, 2024

When I take the bus into Seattle, I usually get off at the King St train station next to Chinatown. There's a pedestrian walkway that goes over the train tracks between Chinatown and the station. I didn't think to get a shot of the bridge from across the street. Maybe next time. Our two major sports stadiums are located on the side by the train station. I always stop to take photos of the downtown buildings and the public metalwork art along the bridge/walkway, and I'll share more shots of those soon. The subject matter spans the waves of immigrants who helped build Seattle, our sports teams, music, etc...

Nostalgia... I rode the bus by NE 80th St & 15th Ave NE today, north of the University District, and I thought I saw "the Box Shop" - my "Box Shop", the small house where I had a small store with my carved and inlaid boxes for 6 months or so in the early 70s. I just googled the address and pulled up the street view. The building I saw from the bus was actually a new house they put up next to where my house was on the corner. When I zoomed in, there it was/is, hiding in the trees! If you look Right, from the red parked car, you can see the steps leading to the front door on the other side of the sidewalk. Wow!
Found art - 7 years ago today, 23Jun2017, in the Georgetown area: using orange rainsuit for motorbike cover, and thumbtack embellishment to garden trimming

McMenamins gardens 2024 #3
This was 5 years ago today, June 20, 2019 - Babytalk... 1+ yo Claire came up to me and told me something in her toddler babytalk language. I remembered talking to a friend's youngster many years ago, and I replied to Claire "probably..." Claire was satisfied with that reply. My friend's child back then explained something to me also, and when I replied "is that right?", she responded with an emphatic "NO!", and walked away...

Inday joined me yesterday on an Express bus ride from Bothell to Bellevue. There, we took the new LRT link to the Redmond (Microsoft) Technology campus. Like me on my last visit, she liked the box like office/meeting room extensions in some of the buildings. It was interesting watching the work happening on one of the new buildings. Back in Bellevue, we then went to Bellevue Square for a walk around (and a little shopping :)) before heading back to Bothell. We stopped by the "Ambakity" Mexican food truck not far from our place and got one of their giant Burritos on the way home. "Ambakity is an ancient Mayan or Purepecha word for bueno, meaning good", and good it is! We didn't have to make dinner last night.

walking around downtown Bellevue and pointing my iPhone Up...
There's something to be said for large families. This is me, with my 3 younger brothers on Tuesday morning. From the left, this is Pat, John, Mike and me. We get together every 5 weeks or so for a walk together and breakfast out. Mike had hip surgery (ouch!) recently, and he has had an amazing recovery, but we decided on a home visit this time, to Pat's house. Btw, we also have 3 sisters, who we care for very much, but this is a bros thing. We toured Pat’s and his better half's gardens, greenhouse etc, and he had plates of smoked salmon, cheese, some herbs from the garden, etc laid out for us. Yummy! That and some really good filtered, strong coffee. Thanks Bros...another fine and fun visit.
"Flat beer" - here, literally. These shots are from a small beach walk along the Green River in Tukwila, WA 7 years ago. In my young adult years, we called beers "flat" when they just didn't taste that good, had no bubbles, etc. That reminds me, I didn't even like beer until I went on my first Heineken Brewery Tour in Amsterdam back in 1968? They gave us free beer after the tour, and I went once in the morning, and once in the afternoon :)

McMenamins gardens 2024 #2
I walked around the former Wayne golf course yesterday, my first walk there in over a year. I walked along the tree line on the south side of the course after crossing the first bridge, and went back over the smaller bridge to the other side of the river near the East end. I took a bunch of photos of the tree line paths, but I wanted to show you the houses of some golf course neighbors today.
