7Dec2022 - crlazlo meanderings 2 is now 2.1 - I will continue to use it as a preview/workspace for my FB posts, but I will also start organizing the many photos from my retirement years, and also start a journal/memories thing. That's the plan anyway.

Old photos: One of my favorite walks when we lived in Tukwila was a park just North of the SeaTac Airport. I loved aiming my camera up through the trees when planes were coming in for landings. This one was from 2015. The street lamp shot was from 2014, on some stairs leading down to the waterfront from downtown Seattle.

Two 25 Dec Xmas Day posts from 5 years ago (2017) in Tukwila, with snow shots along the green river, and two years earlier ( 2015) by a small cafe in our neighborhood

I remember an old guy who walked every day through our neighborhood when we lived in Tukwila. I remember watching Philip walk and thinking he's a retired person. A few years later I noticed he was walking a little slower, and he was using a cane. Towards the end, was still walking every day, but he was using a walker. I started my Walking in January 2006, after I retired. This photo is from an early morning walk in Georgetown on Saturday, December 26, 2015, the day after xmas...

 more snow shots...

One of life's small victories... I didn't slip and fall this morning. An "ice storm" came through here last night, and the whole of our little town turned into a skating rink. It was comical when I went into the grocery store without removing my ice cleats - the floor tiles were worse than outside with the cleats, and I was walking around using my grocery cart like a walker :)

I took a ton of snow shots the other day, and these were from just the walk going out of our apartment complex. It's a wonder how some snowfall can change everything! I was headed to the wooden walkway where I took some photos earlier this week. I'll be posting more tomorrow, my eyes willing.

I shared these photos on this date 9 years ago - from when we lived in Tukwila WA The Green River was a 10 minute walk from our house. I walked in the snow again this morning, but I didn't take any photos.

I went on a photo walk Thursday, down to the Landing Park and along the Sammamish River. The sun had came out, and cold Winter days with blue skies and sunshine used to be one of my favorite times to take pictures. My body likes warmer weather now (7 months in tropical Cebu spoiled me), but I liked the frosted over foliage and the tree shadows...

ps - Gamechanger! Opening our door this morning to get the Seattle Times, there was a little Amazon package - my hand warmers! For the first time this Winter, I did Not come back home from my walk with icicle fingertips :)

Friday, December 16, 2022

The first thing I did after getting home from my walk this morning was to go onto Amazon.com and order some hand warmers! 31 degrees, around 6:45am. It was 28 degrees yesterday. My fingers, even with my gloves, felt like icicles. I'm a weinie. I remember standing at a bus stop in Boulder Colorado once, around midnight. Snow on the ground, and a balmy 1 (One!) degree. It was Much more comfortable in Boulder for me than here. It was a "dry" cold? Here in the NW, it's not Alaska I know, but the damp and wet cold here is Cold!

 5 Years Ago, December 12, 2017

Several posts I made to FB that I forgot to share here:

This is what I've been doing lately, when my eyes became a problem while photo editing. These are monkeypod/acacia wood trays I brought home from Cebu (12" 8" and 6"). The small un-oiled one is what I'm playing with now. I'm carrying the lines from the front edges over to the backside...

Andrea, Nathan and Santa

Joy... reading bedtime stories to our twin granddaughters. Mommy and Daddy had a Date Night yesterday. I read to Claire and Addie from their own books. They had dictated the story lines to Mommy or Daddy, who wrote down the words, and then they drew the pictures. Claire's book was her version of the "Little Mermaid", and Addison's book was called "Polly Puppy". This photo is from when they were toddlers, trying to figure out how to snap and unsnap their booster chair straps. 5 years old now, they are writing books.

Why do I like walking in the early morning dark? There are many reasons, but two that I like are the shadows, and the quiet. I hope to resume my photo walks again soon. These shots were taken on Dec 7 2019, in our little downtown area (Bothell WA).
