7Dec2022 - crlazlo meanderings 2 is now 2.1 - I will continue to use it as a preview/workspace for my FB posts, but I will also start organizing the many photos from my retirement years, and also start a journal/memories thing. That's the plan anyway.

Jesus and Momma Mary

Jesus and "Momma Mary" adorn many homes here, mostly on fences and gates. Even on the wall outside of a Chinese temple...

Yesterday's walk: the first one and an edit (playing with the image) were downtown, and the last three were in a small church courtyard on Osmena Blvd.

My morning walks are often just meandering. Just like in Bothell, my camera doesn't come out right away, but then I'll see something I like and I start shooting. Yesterday it was this cathedral we go by often, but I'm usually distracted by the wires along the main street fronting the structure. I took a side street, and found some nice images. I particularly like the third shot because it shows many of the things I like about Cebu: the coconut trees and tropical foliage, the churches and temples, the blue sky, modern buildings, our home in the lower left hand corner, etc. The wires I haven't decided about, but I do like the Jeepneys...

ps - the telephone pole in the third photo reminded me of a crucifix...

My walk down to Fort San Pedro recently was a bust. It was closed. I did get some interesting shots on the way back home. The guy in the green shirt smiled and said "Yes" when I asked to take his picture, but he wanted me to take it with him drinking his coffee...

Three BW shots in my FB Memories today, from 2018 and 2020, and two recent shots from here in Cebu.

I took these photos on the way back home from my Tree shoot. The taxi driver was hoping I would wave him over, but I continued walking. The hotel in the last shot, the Bayview, was where we spent our 5 days of Quarantine in early November.

As usual, I started out like gangbusters, walking with a fast pace this morning, like I do at home. But like it happens so often, my body tells me "hey cr, slow down! You're in a tropical country now..."

There are a lot of dead ends in Cebu. I like meandering when I go on my morning walks, but a lot of my exercise ends up retracing steps when I end up at the end of a street when I thought it was going to merge with another street.

Also, there are a Lot of dogs in the regular neighborhoods. My memory of being attacked by a dog when I was in the 5th grade has stayed with me over the years, so I have these mini panic attacks when I see dogs. I just keep moving, and I think to myself, maybe I should stay on the bigger roads.

My walk yesterday took me up along the Oprra Jeepney route, a little over 4 miles roundtrip. More green, more dogs, more effort with the ups and downs, but it was a good walk. The most difficult part is getting out earlier in the morning. Cooler, less traffic and less people. I left around 7:35am yesterday , and I was targeting 6:30 for today. Not going to make it. It's 6:26am now. Oh well.
