7Dec2022 - crlazlo meanderings 2 is now 2.1 - I will continue to use it as a preview/workspace for my FB posts, but I will also start organizing the many photos from my retirement years, and also start a journal/memories thing. That's the plan anyway.

Another post in my FB Memories this morning, from 30Nov2019 (I had just returned home in Bothell after my early morning walk: I turned into a weenie! It’s cold out there! I remember riding my bicycle to work in Boulder once, in Colorado winter weather, and arriving at work with icicles on my beard. Of course, I was a lot younger then...

No photo today. Just a thought, a memory that popped into my head when I was doing a little laundry this morning. When I was in Vietnam, I sent my laundry out to some locals. When it came back, my "fatigues", my pants in particular, could stand up by themself there was so much starch in them! I stood a pair next to my cot for awhile, to guard against intruders...
The last time we visited Cebu, it was when Covid was starting to wind down. We had a mandatory 5 day Quarantine in a hotel, and with the view we had from the 10th? floor we could see our own place which was only 5 blocks away. It was interesting to be confined to a hotel room and have meals delivered to our door for 5 days. Another interesting view was the building under construction across the street from us. I went "whoa!" when I saw the guy taking a break on an outside ledge and looking at his phone.

My moonscape this morning, when I was drinking my morning coffee, sometime around 5:30/6am Cebu time… (see FB)

I haven't pulled out my camera yet. These shots are from this date two years ago: We had a lightning storm pass through Cebu. Bright flashes of light, followed by load claps of thunder. The lines of colored lights on the left in the night photo are from the Crown Regency Hotel next to our building. We saw a lightning strike hit a water tank on top of a smaller building west of us. There was a gushing stream of water shooting out from the it onto a smaller building next to it. I felt sorry for the smaller building. We closed the windows, turned off our electronics, and watched the show.

This is one of my favorite walking in Cebu photos, from several years ago?

When I cut back on my photo walks in September, I started carving again. The first two shots are details from when I started this piece, which is 10" in diameter. One of my favorite parts of this process is watching the grains and colors come out when I rub in the oil. I'll upload more photos after I do that. My name, Reinholz, means Clean Wood in German. The "kanji" (Japanese writing using Chinese characters) for Reinholz would be 清森 (清 means clean/pure, and 森 means wood/forest). My hanko (my name stamp in Japanese), would be pronounced "kiyo-mori".

This is the Christmas tree in Bothell, from an evening walk on 23Nov21. They have the "Christmas Tree of Hope" over in the Fuente Osmena circle park near where we are now. It's over 120 feet tall, and it's different every year. I'll walk over and take some photos soon. My plan was to get some photos then, but Typhoon Odette destroyed it several weeks later, on 22Dec21.

We're unpacking and organizing after being away for 18 months or so. I found some masks and a face shields in an end table, and I thought back to the last time we were here. It was the tail end of Covid (2021-2022), and we decided to fly out of LA so we could fly into Cebu on a direct flight. This way we bypassed Manila. Our Quarantine here was only 5 days, and Manila would have been longer. Then we would have had another flight to Cebu after that. The flight from LA to Cebu was 15 hours(!), but there were a lot of empty seats. Inday and I could pick an empty row and stretch out for a nap.
I like shopping in foreign countries. The Chuckie chocolate milk was a must buy 😋

21Nov23 - That was fast, our first week back in Cebu! I'm going to start posting again in FB I think, but my blog (crlazlomeanderings2.blogspot.com) will be my main Sharing/Journal page. I want to start taking photos again as well. One of the issues behind stopping was the need for change in subject matter. I was posting a lot in crlazlo meanderings 2.1 all along anyway because I always did a preliminary post/view there before I shared it on FB. Busy day scheduled today: pay some bills at the bank and Club Ultima, check out the Gym at Club Ultima, do some grocery shopping. A few first impressions of Cebu: 1. the motorcycle riders weaving in and out of traffic (they must know the exact spans of their handlebars- it's fascinating watching them go between cars when we come up to a stoplight...) 2. I Love the taxis here! A buck or two US, and you can go anywhere in our city area. Nate and Airi are going to be amazed when they get here at the end of December. Taxis in Japan cost an arm and a leg!
